- Product Details
10kv cable is a type of the medium voltage cable. The term “10kv” refers to a voltage that can carry 10,000v for a variety of applications. 10kv medium voltage cable use a multi-layer construction to protect the insulation and conductors to ensure that the electrical cable can be used properly. 10kv armoured cable is generally used in distribution networks, large industrial installations, renewable energy projects and rail transport infrastructure, where the applications will have higher voltage requirements for efficient power transmission. In case you feel that 10kv wire is a bit insufficient and 35kv cable is a bit too high, you can choose 11kv cable.

FAQ
What is the Minimum Bending Radius for a 10kV cable?
For a 3-core armoured cable, the minimum bending radius is typically 15x the Overall Diameter (OD). For single-core cables, it is 20x OD. Always strictly adhere to this during installation to prevent damaging the screen or insulation layers.
Why is XLPE preferred over PVC for 10kV insulation?
XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) has a higher dielectric strength and low dielectric loss compared to PVC. Crucially, XLPE allows for a continuous operating temperature of 90°C and a short-circuit temperature of 250°C.
Which international standard governs 10kV cable manufacturing?
The primary global standard is IEC 60502-2. In specific regions, BS 6622 (UK/Commonwealth) or AS/NZS 1429.1 (Australia/NZ) may also apply.
