ZW’s fire alarm and control cables are made of soft-drawn copper and are classified as Type TFN for conductors 18 and smaller. Conductors 14 AWG through 12 AWG is classified as Type THHN/THWN-2. The cable includes a green insulated grounding conductor, and all conductors are cabled with separator tape with the identification print legend to form the cable core. The entire assembly is covered with interlocked aluminium or galvanized steel armour.

What is the difference between MC Fire Alarm Cable and standard FPLP cable?
MC Fire Alarm Cable has a metal armor that provides crush protection and physical security. Unlike FPLP, MC Cable does not require additional conduit for mechanical protection in exposed areas.
Does MC Fire Alarm Cable include a ground wire?
Yes. Unlike standard FPLR/FPLP cables which often rely on a drain wire, MC Fire Alarm Cable includes a full-sized, insulated Green Copper Grounding Conductor as per UL 1569.
Do I need to install conduit when using MC Fire Alarm Cable?
No. The interlocked armor acts as its own conduit/raceway. This significantly reduces installation time and labor costs compared to installing EMT pipe and pulling wire.
