H05VV-F is the most widely used flexible multicore PVC cable in the European market. It powers everything from washing machines and refrigerators to office extension leads. Because it is so common, the market is flooded with varying qualities.
Our H05VV-F cables are engineered specifically for indoor environments. Dual-certified by both VDE and HAR, they deliver reliable protection and long-lasting durability.

What does H05VV-F means?
H05VV-F is the harmonized code (HAR) that replaces older national standards like the British 318*Y.
- H: Harmonized. Accepted across all European CENELAC countries (Germany, France, UK, etc.).
- 05: Voltage Rating (300/500V). Safe for standard 230V/240V household and office appliances.
- V: PVC Insulation. Protects the inner cores.
- V: PVC Sheath. The outer jacket, designed for flexibility and protection.
- -F: Flexible Copper Class 5. Fine strands that allow the cable to bend without breaking.
⚠️ Engineering Note: Many “budget” suppliers attempt to pass off Class 2 (Semi-rigid) conductors as H05VV-F. While cheaper, these rigid wires will fail in dynamic applications (like vacuum cleaners) due to metal fatigue. ZW Cable strictly adheres to IEC 60228 Class 5 stranding standards to ensure long-term flexibility.
Technical Specifications & Data Sheet
We adhere strictly to DIN EN 50525-2-11. Every batch is tested for resistance and dimension before shipping.
| Core Setup | Nominal Cross Section (mm2) | Max Resistance at 20°C (Ω/km) | Current Rating (Air) | Approx. Outer Diameter (mm) |
| 2 x 0.75 | 0.75 | 26.0 | 6 A | 6.2 |
| 3 G 1.0 | 1.00 | 19.5 | 10 A | 7.0 |
| 3 G 1.5 | 1.50 | 13.3 | 16 A | 8.2 |
| 3 G 2.5 | 2.50 | 7.98 | 25 A | 10.1 |
| 5 G 1.5 | 1.50 | 13.3 | 16 A | 10.3 |
| 5 G 2.5 | 2.50 | 7.98 | 25 A | 12.4 |
- Note: “G” = With Green/Yellow Earth Wire. “x” = Without Earth Wire.
- Fire Rating: IEC 60332-1-2 (Self-extinguishing / Flame Retardant).
Application Scenarios: Where to Use (and Where NOT to)
Specifying the right cable prevents safety issues and returns.
✅ Ideal Applications:
- Household Appliances: Washing machines, refrigerators, spin dryers, and vacuum cleaners.
- Office Equipment: Extension leads, power strips, and computer power cords.
- Indoor Lighting: Pendant lights and floor lamps.
- Furniture: Integrated power sockets in desks or partition walls (medium mechanical stress).
❌ Where NOT to Use:
- Outdoors: Standard PVC is not UV resistant. Sunlight will make the jacket brittle. Use H07RN-F (Rubber) for outdoor needs. For more outdoor power, please refer to our [Guide to Outdoor Cable Types]
- High Heat Areas: Do not use near heaters or industrial ovens exceeding 70°C. For these applications, we supply H05RR-F (Rubber) or H05SS-F (Silicone).
- Industrial Workshops: Standard H05VV-F is not oil-resistant. Contact us for specialized Oil-Resistant PVC options.
- Permanent Submersion: PVC is hygroscopic over long periods. For pumps, use specialized submersible cables.
Product Comparison: Making the Right Choice
H05VV-F (PVC) vs. H05RR-F (Light Rubber)
H05VV-F is defined by its smooth, glossy PVC sheath, which is easy to clean and aesthetically ideal for modern home appliances. In contrast, H05RR-F uses a rubber compound that has a matte finish and a slightly “tacky” texture; this tends to attract dust and lint, making it less visually appealing for office equipment or visible home wiring.
While rubber offers slightly better thermal resistance for contact with hot surfaces (like toasters), H05VV-F provides a significant commercial advantage. It is roughly 20-30% more cost-effective than rubber. For washing machines, fridges, and PCs where extreme heat is not a factor, H05VV-F delivers the necessary performance at a much lower price point.
H05VV-F (PVC) vs. H07RN-F (Heavy Duty Rubber)
The primary difference is environmental resistance. H07RN-F is an industrial cable engineered with a Neoprene sheath to withstand oil, water, and direct UV sunlight on construction sites. H05VV-F is strictly for indoor use and lacks this chemical hardening.
However, from a budget perspective, H05VV-F is the clear winner for indoor applications. It is significantly lighter, more flexible, and far more economical to manufacture. Specifying heavy-duty H07RN-F for standard office or domestic equipment increases material costs.
ZW Cable: Services You Can Trust
- Premium raw materials: We use an environmentally friendly, RoHS-compliant PVC compound. It is stabilized to prevent the white powdery residue (“blooming”) often seen on cheaper cables and resists cracking even after long-term storage in warehouses.
- Dual-Certified Compliance (VDE & HAR): Our H05VV-F cables are rigorously tested and carry both VDE and HAR certifications. For you, this means a verified, compliant product that passes inspections without issues.
- Packaging & Logistics: We offer flexible packing options to fit your business model—from retail-ready shrink-wrapped coils to industrial drums for automation. Crucially, our logistics team calculates precise container loading plans to maximize density, ensuring you receive the lowest possible landed cost per meter.
Send us your required size (e.g., 3G1.5) and packaging preference. ZW Cable will provide a competitive price list and full datasheet within 24 hours.
