2 core fire alarm cable is a kind of fire alarm cable commonly used in security and alarm systems to transmit electrical signals between various components, such as sensors, detectors, control panels, and notification devices. Constructed of two insulated copper conductors within the PVC or LSZH sheath,  the fire alarm cable 2 core can also be shielded with aluminum foil to ensure signal quality. Due to its special purpose, alarm wire is typically resistant to flame and heat. Common fire alarm cable specification include 2 core 1.5mm fire alarm cable and 14/2 fire alarm wire.

FAQ

FPLR (Riser): Designed for vertical runs (floor-to-floor) in shafts. It prevents fire from traveling upwards. FPLP (Plenum): Designed for air-handling spaces (drop ceilings, HVAC ducts). It has higher fire resistance and produces less smoke than FPLR.
Use thicker wire (14 AWG or 12 AWG) for longer cable runs or circuits with a higher current draw (e.g., NAC circuits with many strobes/horns)
Yes. While designed for fire, it is often used for burglar alarms, access control, and other low-voltage signaling applications due to its high reliability and fire ratings.
