FAQ
How are the cores identified in a 12-core cable?
According to DIN VDE 0293 standards, control cables with 7 cores or more typically use Number Coding. The cable consists of 11 black cores imprinted with consecutive white numbers (1-11) for signal/power, plus one Green/Yellow protective earth conductor.
Is 12-core control cable shielded?
It depends on the type selected: YY (Unshielded): Standard for general use. CY (Shielded): Features a Tinned Copper Braid to prevent Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). Recommended if the 12 cores carry sensitive PLC signals near motors or VFDs.
Can I use 12-core cable outdoors?
Generally, No. Standard grey PVC sheathing is not UV resistant. If installed outdoors, it requires a Black UV-resistant sheath or must be run inside a conduit. Exposure to sunlight will embrittle standard grey PVC.
