The conductors of NM-B cables are made from bare copper wire that meets ASTM-B3/B8 standards. There are usually multiple finely stranded bundles of copper wires ranging from 14 AWG to thicker gauges. The core wires are insulated with PVC and coated with a transparent nylon to provide additional protection and mechanical strength. The grounding wires are covered with a special separator paper and are arranged together with the insulated conductors. Type NMB cables are available on the market in various sizes and models, such as NM-B3*12AWG. Also, NMD90 cable is one of the quality types offered by ZW Cable manufacturer.
Application:
NMB cables are mainly used for electrical installations in dwellings, such as the connection of sockets and switches and the distribution of power to various loads. NM-B electrical cables are suitable for fixed installation in walls, ceilings or under floors.
Construction:
Type NM-B cables use compression stranded soft copper conductors that are typically annealed (softened) for added flexibility. The conductors are wrapped with 90°C (194°F) rated polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation to provide electrical isolation and some heat resistance. The insulation is covered with a nylon jacket for added tensile strength. NM-B cable is typically available in 2, 3, or 4 cores with a bare ground wire. In addition, Type NM-B cable uses a color-coded jacket to help identify conductor size.
