80mm² THHN wire is a high performance wire for building and industrial use. It is capable of carrying high currents and is suitable for high load electrical systems. THHN copper wire is made of high-quality thermoplastic insulation covered with a layer of heat-resistant nylon, which is designed to provide excellent electrical performance, as well as stability in high-temperature environments. The insulation is able to withstand prolonged high temperatures of 90°C (in dry environments) and maintains good performance in humid environments up to 75°C.

What is the ampacity rating of 80mm² THHN?

Can 80mm² THHN be used in cable trays?
Yes. At this large gauge, 80mm² THHN is typically marked "For CT Use" (Cable Tray). This allows it to be laid in industrial ladder trays without a conduit, provided it is supported and spaced correctly according to code.
How do I terminate 80mm² wire to a breaker?
You must use Compression (Crimp) Lugs or heavy-duty Mechanical (Set-screw) Lugs. The wire is too thick to fit directly into standard molded case circuit breaker clamps unless the breaker is specifically frame-sized for 200A+ lugs.
