16 THHN wire is a high quality and versatile building wire. In comparison to 14 and 10 gauge THHN wires, it has a bit finer gauge. 16 gauge THHN wire is characterized by copper conductor strands that can withstand high temperatures of 90°C with premium flame-retardant PVC insulation and a rugged Teflon jacket. Being resistant to acids, alkalis, water, grease and abrasion also make the wire good in industrial applications.
#16 thhn wire is relatively common for residential and light commercial for circuits that do not require high currents, such as household appliances, and architectural lighting. Also THHN wire 16 is most commonly used for service , feeder and branch circuits in commercial or industrial application in conduits and cable trays as defined in NEC. All applications are 600 volts.
