XLPO Solar Cable is a specialized low-voltage photovoltaic cable engineered with tinned copper conductors and dual-layer radiation-cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) insulation/jacket. The tinned copper provides superior corrosion resistance against seawater, chemicals, and soil, while the halogen-free XLPO matrix delivers exceptional UV stability—withstanding 25+ years of direct exposure without degradation, cracking, or loss of flexibility. Designed to endure extreme temperatures (-40°C to +120°C) and mechanical stress, it outperforms traditional PVC and standard XLPE cables in environmental resilience and longevity. Certified for exposed installations, it’s ideal for rooftop PV systems, ground-mounted solar farms, and floating photovoltaic plants where reliable power transmission is critical. Commonly available types include H1Z2Z2-K and PV1-F Solar Cable.

FAQ

XLPO stands for Cross-Linked Polyolefin. It is a specialized insulation and sheath material used in photovoltaic (PV) cables, offering superior resistance to heat, UV radiation, and hydrolysis compared to standard PVC or rubber cables.
XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) is a specific type within the XLPO (Cross-Linked Polyolefin) family. However, in the solar industry, XLPO specifically refers to specialized flame-retardant, Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) compounds. While standard XLPE offers excellent electrical insulation, it is often not flame-retardant. XLPO solar cables combine the electrical strength of XLPE with superior fire safety and weather resistance.
Yes. The outer XLPO sheath is chemically cross-linked and contains carbon black or UV stabilizers, making it highly resistant to degradation from long-term direct sunlight exposure.
