Automotive wire is a kind of connecting wire inside the automobile, which can be used for battery, instrument, lights and other current transmission. The inside of a car is a very complex environment, where there are various factors such as high temperature, cold, friction, vibration, flammable products and disturbing noise. All of these factors place stringent requirements on automotive wiring. According to the laying position, functional needs, the requirements of the wire should be heat-resistant, cold-resistant, oil-resistant, abrasion-resistant, flame-retardant and anti-interference and other properties. And most household cables often fail to meet these higher standards and requirements. For example, the wire in the front cabin of a car usually needs to be able to work properly in a temperature range of -40 to 125°C, while common household cables such as THHN wires can only withstand temperatures up to 90°C. If used in a car, the high temperatures could cause its thermoplastic insulation to melt, posing a safety hazard.

In terms of material, car wires are different from ordinary household wires. Ordinary household wires are copper single-core wires with a certain degree of hardness. While the car line are copper multi-core soft wire, several or even dozens of soft copper wire wrapped in plastic insulation tube. It is soft and does not break easily. In contrast, house wiring can break easily when it is over-bent or forced in a very small space during installation.

Prolonged or routine use of house wiring in a car may cause damage to the insulation due to insufficient voltage resistance, lack of resistance to heat or vibration, which can lead to short circuits or risk of fire. For the stability and safety of the electrical system, it is recommended to use specialized types of automotive wires or lap wires for automotive circuit connections and repairs. These include high-quality PVC automotive wires, Cross-link automotive primary wire, and high and low voltage wires for different needs.
