Is the N2XS(F)2Y sheath UV resistant?
Yes. The black Polyethylene (PE) outer sheath contains carbon black, providing excellent resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It can be installed outdoors exposed to sunlight without degrading.
Is N2XS(F)2Y radially water-blocked?
No. The standard N2XS(F)2Y provides only longitudinal water tightness. If radial water tightness (prevention of moisture diffusion through the sheath) is required, you must specify N2XS(FL)2Y, which includes an aluminum laminate tape bonded to the PE sheath.
What does the "(F)" feature actually do?
The "(F)" signifies longitudinal water blocking. It involves the use of swellable tapes or powders under the outer sheath. If the cable is damaged and water enters, these materials expand immediately upon contact with moisture, sealing the void and preventing water from traveling along the cable length.
