The YMvK cable is a premier Dutch installation cable, meticulously engineered for low-voltage (LV) power and control circuits with a nominal voltage rating of 0.6/1 kV. Characterized by its high-performance Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and a robust, flame-retardant Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) outer sheath, the YMvK cable for use in all types of areas, as described in NEN 1010. This cable can also be used in buried installations or in tubes or outdoors without requiring additional protection.

The standard YMvK cable is a versatile solution, a family of variants exists to meet specific installation requirements.

YMvK: The standard, unarmoured installation cable for use in conduits, trays, and ducts.
YMvK-as: An armoured version featuring a steel wire braid or armour (-as for Aard Scherm or earth screen), making it suitable for direct burial in the ground where mechanical protection is required.
YMvKmb: The mb suffix denotes moeilijk brandbaar, which translates to “flame retardant,” a key feature of the standard YMvK cable.
YMvK-ss: The ss suffix, for soepel, indicates a flexible Class 5 conductor, designed for installations requiring greater pliability.
YMz1K: A halogen-free (LSZH) alternative for use in sensitive environments like hospitals, data centers, and public transport hubs where the emission of toxic fumes and smoke during a fire must be minimized.

Key Features

  • High dielectric strength and low dielectric loss.
  • Simplicity in construction, lightness in weight; convenience in application.
  • Excellent electrical, thermal, mechanical and anti-chemical corrosion properties. It can also be laid with no limitation of level difference along the route.
  • Most variants achieve a CPR fire classification of Dca-s2,d2,a3 or Cca-s2,d2,a3. This classification indicates a precisely defined performance level in the event of a fire, signifying limited flame spread, moderate smoke production (s2), no flaming droplets for a specified duration (d2), and low acidity of smoke (a3).
