The RV-K Cable is a highly versatile and robust low-voltage power distribution cable, engineered to combine the high performance of a fixed installation cable with the installation ease of a flexible cord. Designed and manufactured according to the demanding UNE 21123-2 standard and compliant with IEC 60502-1, this cable is the premier choice indoor and outdoor installations, forurban grids, industrial machinery, and building wiring.

The RV-K Cable meaning refers to its construction: RV for flexible, fine-stranded copper conductors; The “K” suffix certifies compliance with rigorous German manufacturing and testing standards (DIN/VDE), ensuring verified performance reliability for industrial use. With a nominal voltage rating of 0.6/1kV, the RV-K cable provides a secure and reliable power connection for a vast range of applications. Common sizes are 1.5 mm², 2.5 mm², 4 mm², 6 mm², 10 mm², 16 mm², 25 mm², and 35 mm².

Key Features

  • High Flexibility: Enabled by its Class 5 stranded copper conductor, simplifying installation in complex, space-constrained environments such as equipment rooms, machinery, and intricate cable tray systems.
  • Superior Thermal Performance: The 90°C continuous operating temperature of its XLPE insulation allows for higher ampacity and greater overload capacity compared to standard PVC cables.
  • Robust Environmental Sealing: The tough, UV-stabilized PVC sheath allows the cable to be installed indoors or outdoors in dry, damp, or wet conditions without degradation.
  • Certified Safety: Compliance with key international standards like IEC 60502-1 and the CPR Eca classification for fire performance ensures regulatory adherence and system safety.
  • Voltage rating (Uo/U): 0.6/1 kV
  • Test Voltage: 3,500 V
  • Temperature Range: -15°C to 90°C (operation)
  • Max. temperature during short circuit (≤5S): 250°C
  • Cable laying temperature (not less than): 0℃
  • Min. Bending radius:  5 x overall diameter

FAQ

Yes, but with protection. RV-K is water-resistant and suitable for underground installation, but because it is unarmoured, it must be installed inside a conduit or duct to protect it from mechanical damage and soil pressure.
Yes. The outer PVC sheath is formulated to be weather and UV resistant, making it suitable for installation outdoors, in open air, or exposed to sunlight without degrading.
It is highly flexible. It uses Class 5 stranded copper conductors, making it much easier to handle and install in tight spaces or complex cable trays compared to rigid (Class 1 or 2) cables. The minimum bending radius is typically 5 times the overall diameter.
