- Product Details
NAYY Cable is a multi-core power cable according to IEC 60502. It is designed for fixed installations in industrial distribution systems, underground ducts and mains power lines in buildings. Unlike NYY cables, which are usually made of aluminum conductors with a double layer of PVC, NAYY electrical cables combine economy and high load carrying capacity, especially for long distance transmission projects. Whereas NYY is mostly made of copper conductors with a single layer of PVC and is used in light commercial buildings. The ““NAYY cable meaning” refers to:
N: Harmonized European Standard.
A: Aluminum conductor.
YY: Double PVC insulation (inner insulation + outer jacket).
Product Features
- Double-layer PVC protection: Inner insulation (70°C) and outer jacket (UV, acid and alkali resistant) provide double protection for wet basements or outdoor direct burial.
- Compression Resistant Design: Sheath compression strength ≥15 MPa; resistant to underground geotechnical pressure.
- Multi-core configurations: 2 to 5 core configurations (e.g. NAYY 4x150mm²) are supported, each core is individually insulated to avoid the risk of short circuits.
- CE and RoHS certified; complies with IEC 60332-1 flame retardant standard.
- Specification
- Voltage rating (Uo/U): 0.6/1 kV
- Test Voltage: 4kV
- Permissible operating temperature of the conductor: +70°C
- Max. temperature during short circuit (≤5S): 160°C
- Cable laying temperature (not less than): -5℃
- Min. Bending radius: 12x (Fixed installation); 15 x (Flexing)
- Construction
- Conductor: Aluminium conductor, round solid (RE), sector-shaped solid (SE), round stranded (RM) resp, sector-shaped stranded (SM)
- Insulation: PVC (Polyvinyl chloride)
- Outer Sheath: PVC (Polyvinyl chloride), Black

FAQ
What is the difference between NAYY and NYY cable?
The primary difference is the conductor material. NAYY uses Aluminum, making it significantly lighter and more cost-effective. NYY uses Copper, which offers higher conductivity and a smaller diameter for the same current rating.
Is NAYY cable armored?
No. NAYY is an unarmored cable with a PVC outer sheath. If mechanical protection (armor) is required for direct burial in rocky soil, you should specify NAYBY (Steel Tape Armor) or NAYRY (Steel Wire Armor).
What is the difference between NAYY-J and NAYY-O?
NAYY-J: Includes a Green/Yellow protective earth (PE) conductor. NAYY-O: Does not include a Green/Yellow conductor (typically used for phase connections or where a separate earth is provided).
