FLR2X represents a specialized automotive cable series engineered for low-tension vehicle circuits. Constructed with annealed stranded copper conductors, it delivers critical resistance to engine compartment hazards – including oils, fuels, acids, and organic solvents. Two insulation variants address distinct thermal demands: FLR2X-B uses cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, while FLR2X-A uses polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation. This cable is primarily used in motor and battery ground low-voltage circuits, installed in high-temperature zones such as engine compartments, as well as in complex wiring harnesses for lighting, charging, and instrument panel circuits.

  • Excellent thermal stability-FLR2X wires can be used continuously for up to 3,000 hours in high-temperature environments. Unlike thermoplastic materials, they do not soften or melt at high temperatures. It has passed the VW-1 and Ft1 vertical flame retardant tests, and the insulation layer thickness is uniform.
  • Exceptional durability and chemical resistance-The thermosetting nature of XLPE insulation gives FLR2X outstanding mechanical strength and toughness. It exhibits extremely high resistance to abrasion, cutting, vibration, and environmental stress cracking. Additionally, FLR2X demonstrates exceptional resistance to various corrosive liquids commonly used in automotive applications, including gasoline, diesel fuel, engine oil, acidic solutions, and alkaline solutions.
  • Optimized miniaturization and weight reductionA key feature of FLR2X cables is their thinner insulation layer thickness, denoted by the letter “R” in the cable model. This allows for the installation of more circuits in limited spaces, thereby enhancing the functional density of the wiring harness.
  • Certified quality and safety-FLR2X cables comply with ISO 6722 Class C and DIN 72551-6 standards.
  • Voltage Rating: 60V DC
  • Temperature Range:-40℃ – 125℃
  • Max. temperature during short circuit (≤5S): 160°C

FAQ

Yes. Because XLPE is a thermoset material, it does not melt or flow like PVC. FLR2X is highly resistant to "shrink-back" or insulation melting during soldering or over-molding processes, ensuring reliable connections in complex assemblies.
Yes. The cross-linked structure of XLPE provides superior chemical resistance compared to PVC. It withstands exposure to oils, fuels, brake fluids, and battery acid, making it the standard choice for under-the-hood applications.
Yes. While known for heat resistance, XLPE also performs well in the cold. FLR2X typically maintains flexibility and insulation integrity down to -40°C, meeting ISO 6722 standards for global automotive climatic requirements.
