Airdac cable is a specialized concentric cable manufactured to standards including SANS 1507-6 and NRS 110, with a voltage rating of 0.6/1kV (600/1000V) . Its structure is compact, wiring is simple and tamper-proof. The cable features a stranded hard-drawn copper or aluminum phase conductor insulated with XLPE. Neutral and earth conductors are arranged concentrically around the core and are available in either combined (CNE) or separate (SNE) configurations, with a UV-stabilized black polyethylene outer sheath applied over them to provide resistance against weather, moisture, and UV exposure.

Application and Installation

Airdac cable is designed for single-phase aerial service connections from utility distribution networks to residential and commercial buildings, and is limited to single-phase supply only. It is typically installed overhead as a drop cable between poles and building entry points, while SNE configurations are additionally suitable for underground general use.

FAQ

Yes, SNE configurations are suitable for direct underground burial. CNE configurations are typically used for overhead installations only.
No. Airdac cable is designed exclusively for single-phase service connections.
The concentric construction simplifies termination—neutral and earth conductors are exposed after removing the outer sheath, with a nylon ripcord provided for easy jacket removal.
