Type TF Wire is a single-conductor, thermoplastic-insulated fixture wire engineered for reliability in 600V applications with a maximum operating temperature of 60°C. Its construction features a high-purity solid or stranded annealed copper conductor encased in a single, robust layer of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) insulation. Governed by the National Electrical Code (NEC), its primary application is for the internal wiring of lighting fixtures, appliances, and low-power control circuits. TF house wire is specifically designed for installation within enclosed or protected environments where it is not subject to mechanical stress, bending, or twisting during operation. Type TF Wire shall not be used as branch-circuit conductors.

  • Robust PVC Insulation: The wire is insulated with a high-quality Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) that provides excellent resistance to moisture, oil, gasoline, acids, and alkalis. Furthermore, the PVC material is flame-retardant, a critical safety feature for wiring within appliances and lighting fixtures.
  • Flame Retardance: The PVC compound is formulated to be flame-retardant. It is tested for compliance with the UL 1581 VW-1 (Vertical-Wire)
  • High-Purity Copper Conductors: It is available with either a solid conductor (Type TF) for secure, static terminations or a stranded conductor (often designated as Type TFF) for enhanced flexibility.
  • Environmental Responsibility (RoHS Compliant): Our TF Wire is manufactured in full compliance with the European Union’s RoHS Directive. This means it is free from lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and other specified hazardous materials, making it safer for both the environment and for personnel during manufacturing and recycling.

FAQ

TF wire is rated for 60°C. It is designed for standard lighting fixtures and control circuits where heat is moderate. If your application involves higher temperatures (e.g., inside high-wattage recessed lighting), you must switch to THHN (90°C) or silicone wire.
No. TF wire is listed for Dry Locations only (60°C). If your lighting fixture is outdoors or in a damp environment (like a bathroom vanity), you must use a fixture wire rated for moisture, such as TW or TF-W.
Simpler construction. TF consists of a single layer of PVC insulation over copper. TFFN requires a dual-extrusion process (PVC + Nylon skin). If your application is static and protected inside a fixture (no abrasion risk), TF is the cost-effective choice.
