Flat TPS cable is most frequently referred to by its common name, “Twin and Earth”. Flat TPS Cable (Thermoplastic Sheathed, Flat Profile) is an AS/NZS 5000.2-compliant power cable designed for concealed residential and commercial wiring.Its distinctive flat configuration optimizes space efficiency in plasterboard cavities, floorings, and narrow conduits. Combining 90°C-rated PVC insulation with a durable PVC sheath, it delivers safe power distribution for lighting circuits, socket outlets, and fixed appliances. Available in configurations like Flat TPS Cable 2×1.5 + 1.5 for lighting circuits or Flat TPS Cable 2×2.5 + 2.5 for power points, it provides versatility for various electrical loads.
Key Features：
- Easy to install—the cable can easily navigate around sharp corners of wall studs, pass through crowded ceiling spaces, and terminate in narrow junction boxes without twisting or damaging the wires. Installation is 25% faster than with round cables.
- Flame resistance – Passes IEC 60332-1-2 testing; the insulation and outer sheath are flame-resistant and will self-extinguish once the direct heat source is removed.
- Moisture resistance – The cable is suitable for all standard dry indoor locations in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 wiring standards. However, it is important to note that standard flat TPS cables are not suitable for permanent submersion or direct burial underground.
