- Product Details
Teflon insulated wire is one of the high performance high temperature wire types. Featuring tinned copper conductors and durable polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE/Teflon) insulation, teflon coated copper wire provides superior performance in high heat, chemical corrosion and high vibration environments. With a Teflon wire insulation temperature rating spanning -65°C to +260°C (intermittent peaks up to 300°C), it outperforms PVC alternatives in applications like engine compartments or welding stations, where insulation meltdown risks are critical. For example, 12 AWG PTFE wire is a common choice in industrial installations where heavy-duty current capacity is required.
Product Features
- Chemically Inert: Resistant to oils, acids, solvents (including benzene and methanol) and UV radiation.
- Self-extinguishing (UL 94 V-0 rated) with negligible smoke emissions.
- Remains flexible at sub-zero temperatures and withstands 50,000+ flex cycles without cracking.
- The smoothness of PTFE allows for easy passage through ducts or tight spaces, reducing installation time.
- UL 1330, RoHS and REACH compliant

FAQ
What are the main advantages of PTFE (Teflon) insulation?
PTFE provides high temperature resistance, low dielectric constant, excellent chemical resistance, and long service life, even in harsh environments.
Why is the conductor tinned copper instead of bare copper?
Tin plating improves oxidation resistance, enhances solderability, and extends performance in high-temperature and corrosive conditions.
How does Teflon insulated wire compare to silicone insulated wire?
Teflon wire offers higher chemical resistance and lower dielectric loss, while silicone wire is generally more flexible but less resistant to chemicals.
